Designing With Granite  E-mail

Individuals who are moving into new homes or who are redesigning the kitchens in their old homes need to design the layout of the kitchen before they start considering their options for kitchen countertops.

There are several designs that homeowners can choose from for their kitchens. The different choices will affect the amount of material that is required for fabricating the kitchen countertop.

The most common kitchen countertop found in small apartments and small kitchens is the corridor layout. In this design the countertop stretches along one wall and usually contains the sink. A second countertop stretches along the opposite wall, which is usually interrupted by the stove and the refrigerator. In most apartments these days, the line countertop is fitted with granite slabs. This gives the entire kitchen area a more refined look.

Another popular kitchen countertop design is the L-shaped kitchen countertop. In this case, two countertops sit perpendicular to each other, and the sink, stove, and refrigerator form a triangle along the L.

The island layout kitchen is opted for only by homeowners who have a large kitchen. Invariably, almost every homeowner who has an island kitchen chooses granite slabs for the kitchen countertop. Granite makes the kitchen looks glamorous and it also adds to the resale value of the home.
