Ok first on my list.

A few months Rockwell mention a new tool to come, well here it is.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Werk Industries introduces the revolutionary WerkMaster™ Terrazzo/Granite/Marble/Stone Grinding, Edging and Polishing machine. Four machines in one, WerkMaster's patent pending Octi-Disc™ Technology grinds, edges, polishes and buffs any stone or terrazzo surface to within 1/8" of a wall and under cabinets. Add our new patent pending Random Orbital Heads and see results you will never achieve with any other machine!

Are you tired of hours of edging and having to feather in close to walls? Lippage driving your planetary crazy? Fed up chasing tool marks? Exhausted at the end of the day from swinging your machine? Terrified of running over a crack in the floor? Spending too much time on maintenance? Jobs taking way too long? Profit margins too low? Walking away from polishing Himalayan Quartzite jobs? Can't touch black granite? Then you need a WerkMaster™ with Octi-Disc™ Technology.

Initially developed over five years ago to polish black granite, one of the hardest stones to polish, Werk Industries has answered the challenge of delivering a superior solution to frustrated terrazzo and stone finishing contractors worldwide.

Our tankless water feature allows both wet and dry polishing. Combining Octi-Disc™ Technology with the WerkMaster™ Eliminator vacuum system will deliver a 100% Airborne Dust and Allergen Free environment.

Virtually every competitor's machine on the market today is based on the old terrazzo planetary design, that can actually damage the surfaces they were designed to refinish. These machines are large, heavy, slow and cumbersome and follow the concept of more weight is better. Some are so large and heavy they cannot get through standard doors or into elevators. A large investment is tied up in a single use machine. Those that are designed to be lighter take too long to remove the surface material and cannot deliver the quality of finish that today’s discerning customer is expecting.

What makes WerkMaster™ so unique? Octi-Disc™ Technology and SPEED! Our heads spin at disc speeds that are unheard of in the industry and unavailable on a planetary! Think of a variable speed hand grinder – the faster your RPM, the FASTER the Rate of Removal or the higher the polish finish! We have eight heads spinning at speeds that produce the fastest Rate of Removal in the industry without using heavy weight kits!

Our WerkMaster's are fast, tough and agile, delivering superior results and Rates of Removal that most competitors only dream of achieving! Tradesmen are amazed and delighted with the ease of use and total customer satisfaction achieved with a WerkMaster™.

* Versatile – The same machine can grind, edge and buff any Terrazzo/Granite/Marble/Stone surface with just a simple quick change of discs.
* Innovative Design – The WerkMaster's patent-pending Octi-Disc™ design allows the machine to go right under cabinets and within 1/8" of the wall virtually eliminating the need for edgers.
* Dust Free – The WerkMaster™ is 100% Dust Free when utilizing our WerkMaster™ Eliminator Vacuum System or any approved commercial vacuum system.
* Stone/Terrazzo Polishing System – Only WerkMaster™ offers a proprietary polishing system utilizing our patent pending DG – Diamond Abrasives that deliver results that no other machine can match.
* Random Orbital Heads – Again, WerkMaster™ leads the industry in ingenuity and superior design offering Random Orbital Heads that improve final finish while eliminating tool marks.
* Ease of Use – The WerkMaster™ can be operated with minimal effort and requires very little training.
* Low Maintenance – Contractors will enjoy the benefits of the WerkMaster's superior quality and low maintenance features.
* Fab-u-Floors – An independent subsidiary of Werk Industries, Fab-u-Floors was developed to operate as WerkMaster's Research and Development division, providing invaluable feedback from the field and allowing management to have hands on experience with the machines in all types of situations. This experience is passed on to you as a WerkMaster™ customer.
* A Model for Everyone – Werk Industries offers 3 models to suit the needs of floor refinishers worldwide. All models are available in 60 Hz and 50 Hz cycles to meet international electrical requirements. The 1400S model is perfect for smaller jobs while commercial and industrial contractors will love the polishing power of the Model 1600S–Raptor and the uncompromising power of the Model 1800S–TITAN.

Re: WerkMaster™ Concrete Polishing System

Just a note to say that we have developed the new Model 1400 - Europa stone grinding and polishing machine that just won the "Best New Product - 2007" at StonExpo in Las Vegas.

The advantage of WerkMaster Stone Grinders and Polishers is that the first three steps for grinding can be done completely DRY! The advantage is you can see the "picture Framing" on the floor where you are removing lippage, delivering a faster, better solution.

The Europa is a grinder/polisher/edger and buffer - 4 machines in one!

Re: WerkMaster™ Concrete Polishing System

Brian, most marble jobs (due to the density of stone) rarely involve more that two coarser steps (unless there is excessive lippage and in cases like that things are usually done differently).

Picture framing usually occurs when attempting to hone and polish without ‘leveling’ a floor first (given there is a lippage present). If you are to run 3 (three) coarser grinding steps you should not have any picture framing after the first or at the most after the second step (if you do.. .there is something wrong with what you do and/or use).

As for doing the lippage removal part dry - (if nothing else) considering the extra expense involved for proper dust-recovery system (average $1200 to $1800) what exactly is the advantage.?.

Re: WerkMaster™ Concrete Polishing System

Hi Mile1,

You are right, you do not need more than 1 or 2 grits to remove the lippage on marble, in fact, with a WerkMaster, we have never needed to go beyond 1 grit for lippage removal, whether it is on marble, granite, or other natural stone products.

We use two or three steel grits dry because the advantage is that : 1) Dry allows us to see where the picture framing is as we grind, so we are not grinding wet, vacuuming up the slurry, then washing the floor then waiting for it to dry, then go -"oh D#$m" got to start again. How often does that happen to you? How much time does it take?

2) The first three grits typically remove the most material, so although you do require a vacuum, which can be expensive, you have removed the most material without all the heavy slurry which can be a problem to dispose of. The labour saving and time saving more than justifies the cost of a vacuum.

3) It is actually faster to grind dry on the first three grits because you have a better visual of the tool marks, easier to see if you have removed them.

When we have compared grinding with our machine dry compared to wet, we have achieved more than a 50% Rate of Removal improvement dry. We can grind and polish up to 1000 sq. ft of marble to 3000 grit in 7 hours, faster with our bigger machines, 8 hours for Absolute Black Granite. That includes removing lippage and edging.

Compared to all the other machines, I think you can agree that the performance of the WerkMaster with it's patent pending Octi-Disc Technology is a significant improvement over todays planetary designed machines.

Cheers...

Brian

Re: WerkMaster™ Concrete Polishing System

Brian, there is a discrepancy in your post –
First you said – “.. .in fact, with a WerkMaster, we have never needed to go beyond 1 grit for lippage removal, whether it is on marble, granite, or other natural stone products”

Then, right after you’re saying – “We use two or three steel grits dry because the advantage is that : 1) Dry allows us to see where the picture framing is as we grind, so we are not grinding we.. .”

So you’ve never needed to do more than a single step, yet you are doing 2 or 3 metal steps because you’re doing it dry.. (Which one is it.?.) Something does not mach nor makes sense here Brian (at least to me)

Then you’re using terminology (picture framing) that is irrelevant (for reasons mentioned earlier above) in what you’re describing. You’re talking about visibility – It is more difficult to see the scratch-profile on a floor that was ground dry compared to the scratch-visibility you have on a floor that was ground wet (especially on a textured stones). No dry vac (Ermator, Dustcontol, Pulse-Bac, Ruwac etc) picks-up everything 100%, there always gonna be some swirls ‘filled-up’ with fine dust (unless you have used an auto-scrubber after).

As far as the product rates you have posted – That is easily doable with pretty much any 19”/20” machine on the market, even with a 17” ones equipped with a planetary head (in fact you would actually do probably 20% to 30% more, if the machine is heavier and more powerful, i.e. Klindex).

I totally disagree with your statement (with the following remark – Unless you’re comparing to single head low RPM rotary polishers) –

“Compared to all the other machines, I think you can agree that the performance of the WerkMaster with it's patent pending Octi-Disc Technology is a significant improvement over todays planetary designed machines”

------------------
What is your comparison point exactly - Production rates, Motor power, Ability to operate at variable speed levels, Down-pressure.?. . Convince us (me), but bring in actual numbers not just bare statements

Good luck!

I am wondering how you can patent something that was developed and on the market over 10 years ago?
