I am Josveek Huligar of Huligar Stone Restoration. It is my hope that a few good craftsmen and craftswomen will call this sanctuary a home.
I will try to make this place as appealing to you as possible.
We do have a few ground rules (without rules there can only be chaos).
1. Respect yourself and your trade.2.No trade bashing. But, by all means, please debate. It is through the debates that we get to the truth.
3. In your signature, you may not link to any other site. If you supplied your link in your profile, you may put that link under your avatar
4. Do not insult the guests.
5. Your participation is necessary in all polls. This is the only way we can get real feedback.6.You can post pictures of your work. Please, the only work we really care about is the work you do to stone, not on it (nothing inappropriate).
7. You will also be required to be active in this forum. I intend to rid the NSRA Trade area of the hacks and stone-voyeurs by mandating anyone who wants access to the trade lounge to register with their location and trade. If for any reason a person does not participate for duration of 60 days they will be banned from the lounge "No Beer for you". We have guys who are willing to share their knowledge and experience to the public for free. The least you can do is ask the questions. If trade lounge has just one other person, I would be happy if that one person was someone I could exchange ideas with and by doing so better myself. In that way, this site is more about show and tell.
8. The general public will not be allowed in the trade lounge. The trade lounge members are not allowed in the student lounge. The students will be able to view but not post in the general room. All questions for the trade are to be confined to the trade lounge or they would be redirected to the trade lounge. Anyone in the trade lounge can make a reply to the general room once they keep in mind that we are promoting natural stone as a serviceable product.
9. We are craftsmen and women, not politicians. So leave the politics out.
MIA, Marble Cleaning Net, NTC, sfa and ISI are all welcome here as long as they respect this forum. There is a room where all may place their ads and do their promotions for upcoming events, a calendar for trade shows, educational classes, and any other type of trade gathering. For all the salespeople, we even have a place for you. You can enter your product up for reviews and the good folks will grade your products. I must warn you. If your product is inferior, the whole world will know, quickly. No news travels faster than bad news. For all the homeowners, contractors, and designers we even have a place for you. The general room is where you can ask as many questions as you want. You may not get the answer you are looking for but you will get the right answer. If there is any way that we can make your visit more pleasurable, please let us know. | | News. | Turkish company to expand in China One of Turkey's biggest natural stone mining companies, Silkar Mining, is expanding to China through building a pilot plant, according to Silkar representatives speaking in a press conference in Istanbul on Friday.
Silkar Mining, founded in 1990 and specialized in natural stone – marble, granite and mosaics – has become “one of the best mosaic producers in the world,” according to Erdoğan Akbulak, Silkar chairman of the board of directors. “With the help of natural marble and travertine stocks of more than 120 variations, we gathered an artist's perspective to apply to our products; the outcome is rewarding,” said Akbulak.
We are planning to use our company know-how to process China's natural resources through its cheap labor market,” Akbulak continued. “After building distribution channels from the United States [San Francisco, Connecticut] to Europe [Germany], Silkar will augment its share in the natural stone market.”
Silkar ranks sixth in Turkish natural stone market, with $15 million in exports annually. The market has a $1.25 billion export volume.
Steady growth:
Last year, Silkar achieved a growth trend by augmenting its exports by 27 percent and its total sales by 37 percent. “As developed economies are stunned by a credit crunch and the [subprime] mortgage crisis, companies cannot easily attain long-term loans. In other words, investments are ratcheted down in these countries,” said Akbulak, hinting at transferring investment to “petro-dollar economies and emerging markets.”
“This year will be the year of difficulties,” Akbulak noted. “We have to get used to hearing words such as limited profit margins, the need to enhance productivity, profit-making measures, customer profitability and product profitability.”
Akbulak said his company has more to gain by investing in China, saying, “We are not closing down the plants in Turkey, just increasing our capacity with our recent investments in China.”

| Re: Turkish company to expand in China Hi Huligar, first I want to say nice photos! and thanks for posting Rose and Leah's Turkey trip some years ago when we were supplying the TransAmerica building in SF. - interesting story on the Turkish company opening in China. Our suppliers are starting to quote us in Euros from China! yikes - not the relative bargain it once was.
A couple of questions - I was trying to send Fred a private note (to buy a DVD; ?'s on advertising; and fabricator bid training) and I accidently posted it - then I tried to edit it - but was online through my SF server and things were slow and sloppy - to make a long story short I can't find my post or your introduction...
now I am navigating normally (not through my other server) but can't find any old info that I was just looking at. any ideas? thanks, Alex |
