How to Survive the Stone Industry Recession
and Sell More Stone

Many are trying to deny the fact that we are headed into a recession. I'm not an economist or claim to be an expert on if our economy is strong or not. With that said what I do know is the hundreds of fabricators, distributors and contractors I talk to our slow. There business is slower that last year and things don't seem to be getting any better. That's the bad news. The good news is I have been there before. I have been in the stone industry for nearly 30 years and have learned a few things about surviving the tough times. As a matter of fact this year my business is doing better than it has in the last five years. You can do the same with the tips and techniques that I have outlined in the web seminar I call SELL MORE STONE.

This is a four hour lecture with graphics that will guide you to what you need to know to survive in these difficult times and some of the things that have worked for me and others over the years.

Re: How To Survive the Stone Industry Recession

Hi Fred, I would like to get one DVD for my ASN East office - and to market the NSRA to local fabricators that really need a helping hand... and I am thinking of advertising somewhere-somehow on your site. I am wondering what kind of results people get - and if any stone suppliers advertise.

It isn't that easy for me to navigate the site as everytime I scroll it reloads line by line and takes a long time to get around. any ideas for the less than computer expert (me)?

also I am trying to teach some of my fabricators how to bid - as I did that for 15 years - but most of the people around here 'square foot' bid vs. a cost for every action. so half the time they don't know if they are too high or too low, when they can sharpen their pencil and when they can't, etc. and they often freak out when a customer they bid Sta.Cecilia to chooses Blue Pearl instead because they don't even have a material line item.

it is too personal when I show them the formula's I used to use and I often end up arguing with them - I'm just trying to share with them a bit of what I've learned to help them with their business. Fred I've got a stubborn Western Mass. crowd!! not open minded like the Northern CA people I cut my teeth with. So I wonder what training in bidding I may be able to refer them to!??! thanks alex

Re: How To Survive the Stone Industry Recession

Alex, Don't be a stranger. Karen S. visited me last year sometime - tell her I said Hi. We only got to do business once. Seems customers don't want to travel so far to view slab.
