ASK ABOUT EDUCATION WHEN HIRING A HOME REMODELER
WASHINGTON, May 23 - During any job interview candidates are
asked about their education. Why should this be any different when
evaluating home remodelers? As part of National Home Remodeling
Month, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)
Remodelors[tm] Council advises homeowners to look for the Certified
Graduate Remodelor (CGR) designation when hiring remodeling
contractors.
Like an MBA or certified public accountant, the CGR designation
is an advanced degree for remodelers. Taking on average more
than two years to complete, this remodeling graduate program
offered through NAHB's University of Housing teaches extensive
technical, business, and customer skills well beyond those of the
average contractor. And unlike most graduate degrees, CGRs renew
their designation every three years with continuing education and
abiding by a strict code of ethics.
"The CGR designation is the highest level of education in the
remodeling industry," said Remodelors Council Chairman Vince
Butler, CGR, CAPS, GMB, a remodeler from Clifton, Va. "These home
remodelers bring unmatched professionalism to every job, resulting
in the best possible end product for homeowners."
Since 1988, 1,426 professionals around the country have
completed the CGR designation. To learn more about remodeling or to find
a CGR designee in your area, visit
