Our staff members have a keen understanding of today's lifestyles and how proper space planning and interior design can truly benefit the way your whole house functions. Our kitchen & bath design specialists, space planners, interior designers and project coordinators, work alongside skilled craftsmen and installers to create beautiful rooms that add functionality, aesthetics and investment value to your home.

Even though our name is Kitchen & Bath Design Consultants, we don't just do Design Consultation, and we don't just do Kitchens and Baths. We are a full service Design/Build Firm, which means we plan and coordinate every stage of your project from concept to completion, taking care of every detail along the way.

You will find our service personal, interactive and focused on your needs. We offer our showrooms by appointment only to ensure that you have our undivided attention from the moment you arrive. You may also stop by our West Hartford showroom on Thursday evenings from 5-8pm, without an appointment, if you wish. Our services include in-depth studies and analyses of each project, gathering data about traffic flow patterns, lifestyle considerations, window placement and other external factors, as well as storage needs, lighting, electrical and mechanical requirements. Our comprehensive planning process includes careful product documentation and detailed drawings that guarantee your project will be as beautiful as you envision it and installed without problems.

Recent remodeling projects that Kitchen & Bath Design Consultants have completed include Home Offices, Media Rooms, Mud Rooms, Libraries, Home Theaters, and of course, many Kitchens and Baths. Whether you are building a new home, remodeling an existing room, reconfiguring an existing space, or putting a complete addition on to your home, our consultants can advise you about the investment value of your project and make sure that your financial goals are also fully realized. Understanding your budget will influence many of your decisions and help determine which of the finer details will be most appropriate for your specific project.

We strongly believe that the details really do make a difference, and therefore we represent a broad range of product suppliers. However, products are only a part of what we do -- they are simply a means to an end. We apply our expertise to the entire home, installing cabinetry, countertops, flooring, doors, windows, electrical, plumbing, and just about everything else, including the kitchen sink!

As our portfolio of beautiful projects continues to grow, so does our staff. This group of talented, creative people, working together as a team, is indisputably the company's greatest asset. We have developed a hiring and training process which carefully selects new employees and, regardless of their experience, prepares them to work as part of our team through mentoring, education and supervised development. Our award-winning staff, which includes Certified Kitchen and Bath Designers, Interior Designers, CAD Designers and Project Managers, is committed to raising industry standards and bringing our professional knowledge into your home. We remain firmly devoted to continued education for all our employees by attending classes and seminars and actively participating in the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA).

Lorey Cavanaugh, CKD, CKB
Owner
Lorey's love of design translates beautifully into functional solutions that support the lifestyle and activities of her clients. She has over 30 years of interior design experience, 20 years of which were specializing in kitchen and bath design. Her focused vision has fueled the growth of the company to its present form of a full service Design/Build firm. Lorey's designs have won numerous awards, including a 2003 NKBA Honorable Mention. To relax, Lorey enjoys golf, traveling, and cooking in her own kitchen, which, yes, she designed!

Elizabeth Campo
Design Associate
Prior to working at KBDC, Elizabeth was a client on three house renovations. She inherited a passion for remodeling from her mother and puts the same enthusiasm into each of her clients' projects as if it was her own. Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys traveling, hiking, reading and spending time with her friends.

Charles Harrill
Design Manager
Our newest design team member, Charles, brings to KBDC a great breadth of experience and skills. He holds a MFA degree in theatrical design and production. His professional work with scenery, lighting, and costumes was a natural lead into interior design with special interest in kitchen and bath design, as well as custom window treatments. Last fall, one of his kitchen projects was featured in “Family Circle Magazine”. Charles also has the travel bug when not designing, but his idea of camping and outdoor activities is a nice bed and breakfast with a large wrap-around porch and a rocker.

Vinny J. Guarino III
CAD Specialist
In just six years, Vinny has taken his drafting skills to an impressive level, proudly adding CAD design to his list of accomplishments. Vinny brings his natural artistic talent to the table when he drafts floor plans, perspectives and elevations. Believe it or not, Vinny continues to draw for his own pleasure, outside of work and enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including ice hockey.

Benjamin Fernandez
Project Manager
Joining our team with nine years experience in the construction field and over five years experience in the restaurant industry makes Ben a perfect fit for KBDC. His unparalleled problem solving skills and unwavering customer service is sure to make for happy clients. When not at work, Ben can be found spending time with his dog, Nala, and cooking with friends.

Allison Harkins
Administrative Assistant
Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, Allison has a varied work background including museum exhibition design, administrative experience coupled with meeting and event planning for a local art museum, and most recently in the healthcare industry. She has now come full circle to her love of design, color, and tactile materials to join the team of Kitchen & Bath Consultants. In her down time, Allison can be found camping and fishing in Maine with her husband, antiquing, gardening and creating her own artwork.

Stephanie Lehman
Design Assistant
Although Stephanie received her BA in Interior Design from University of New Haven in 2007, she is no stranger to kitchen and bath design. As a student intern, she supported the KBDC design associates for over two years. Stephanie now brings a unique, personal perspective to each project she is involved with, each profiting by her rendering, AutoCAD, and organizational skills. As a logical extension of her kitchen and bath design work, Stephanie loves to experience all forms of music, art, and technology. In her spare time, she enjoys outside activities, especially biking and skiing.

Bantam Staff

Peter F. Roth, CKD
Design Associate
Peter has spent over 24 years designing kitchens, baths and "other rooms". He takes pride in listening carefully to his clients’ problems within their existing spaces in order to create their wish list. Peter also considers himself an educator, making sure the client has as much knowledge about styles, function and costs as possible. "A knowledgeable client is the best client". Peter's ideas of down time activities include antiquing, traveling (Venice is his favorite place) and cooking.

Larry Komisar
Project Manager, Bantam
Larry cut his teeth in the construction industry working in a family owned architectural woodwork manufacturing business. In an adventurous departure, he and his wife, Francine, owned a restaurant in New Haven for 5 years. Larry returned to the construction industry this time specializing in kitchen & bath remodeling. Holding a degree in management and over 20 years of project management experience with Signature Kitchen & Bath-M.A. Peterson, The Kitchen Company, and Ducci Kitchens, Larry brings to KBDC a reputation for strong organizational and customer service skills. Larry, Francine, and their daughter Taylor, are long time residents of Litchfield County. When he’s not solving project management dilemmas, Larry can be found boating, golfing and relaxing at the lake.

Laura Tracey
Design Assistant
KBDC is happy to add Laura to our expanding team of professionals. A self-professed perfectionist with a passion for detail, Laura holds a certification in AutoCAD drafting and spent three years honing her design skills at Westchester Modular Homes, a modular building company. Prior to this Laura worked in New York City in the magazine publishing industry. When not drafting, Laura enjoys yoga, running, hiking, cooking, and traveling to Vermont.

Don Hodkoski
Design Associate
Don as been in the design/build industry for over 27 years. As a KBDC designer, this background gives him a broad perspective of the entire design process from space planning, material selection, budgeting, to construction. The keys to any successful project are the relationships forged between the designer and the client, the designer and the installers, and the designer and the project management team. With these relationships firmly established, Don earns the total trust of each of his clients, bringing their dreams to reality and creating personal spaces that are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and delivered in a professional and timely manner. And Don believes this process should be and can be fun! When not spending time at his Cape Cod home, he enjoys basketball and softball with longtime friends.
