Re: This just in: cleanimage joins NSRA Forums...

thanks for the welcome,

well, a little background i guess, i started in floor care(soft goods) in 1988.
i took every class i could ,starting with carpet dyeing no less, and currentely am a IICRC master textile cleaner.

i got more into the hard surface cleaning in 1999, mostely tile and grout, however took my first stone class from stone tech in 1999, they actuall shipped a couple floors to the class.

up untill 2 month ago i have taken an aditional 4 more courses, some just books, 1 was hand on in tampa, wich was the best

untill last month that was, me and my tech took MB class in philly, great class form a great teacher. looking to upgrade my mono to a klndex planetary very soon.

mono way to sloooow for me.

most of my work i antipipate to be on travertine, it everyware

just learning as much as i can from the threads, as well as seat time behind the klindex on practice floors( my tech has trav installed)

i know travertine difficult to restore because its hard on diamonds, and you got the refilling issues,

after 5 years of just polishing and hand full of cuts i,m ready for more

FAMILY. i have 2 year old son and 7 year old daughter and beautiful wife. want to work less and spend more family time THERE ONLY LITTLE ONCE

ADVICE : WATCH CLICK ,with adam sandler

plenty of ? to come

Hi Carl

Welcome aboard! We all have a lot to offer and learn from each other. Are you looking to specialize in stone, or just expand your services? Nothing like those hands on lessons, huh?

Re: This just in: cleanimage joins NSRA Forums...

HELLO john,

im looking to expand more into the cutting side of it, we have been polishing for over 5 years. i have a friend that use to do full restoration, that i could refer if someone wanted more than polishing. it was rare custy would want to spend more than polishing

my top tech and i will start toghether on jobs, and eventually i think he will take over

i think in selling a restoration job, whether flatting or just honing, you need to exude confidence and enthusiam, so custy feels confident spending the big bucks.

now with good education, a more productive machine, lots of practice, and a support network. i'll be able to close more cutting jobs.

Hi Carl

The term "cutting" sounds like fabricating. It sounds like you are referring to grinding or lippage removal.

I think in "cutting" he means more than just using a powder to polish. Like honing a floor or grinding and polishing a floor.

Either way, welcome and glad to have you, there is lots to learn here and enjoy yourself!

stonebuddy is correct
1 instuctor i had used that term , and i liked it because you you are entering the next (main) level of stone restoration. and it will gardner a customers attention when differentating between just polishing and restoration.

work hard , play hard , sleep tight

Hi Guys

We are on the same page. I've never used the words "cutting" or "diamondize". Must be a part of the new generation lingo. No matter what terminology is used, it's still a challenge to sell the "upcharge".
