| | | | Notices | Hi Unregistered,
I am Josveek Huligar of Huligar Stone Restoration. It is my hope that a few good craftsmen and craftswomen will call this sanctuary a home.
I will try to make this place as appealing to you as possible.
We do have a few ground rules (without rules there can only be chaos).
1. Respect yourself and your trade.2.No trade bashing. But, by all means, please debate. It is through the debates that we get to the truth.
3. In your signature, you may not link to any other site. If you supplied your link in your profile, you may put that link under your avatar
4. Do not insult the guests.
5. Your participation is necessary in all polls. This is the only way we can get real feedback.6.You can post pictures of your work. Please, the only work we really care about is the work you do to stone, not on it (nothing inappropriate).
7. You will also be required to be active in this forum. I intend to rid the NSRA Trade area of the hacks and stone-voyeurs by mandating anyone who wants access to the trade lounge to register with their location and trade. If for any reason a person does not participate for duration of 60 days they will be banned from the lounge "No Beer for you". We have guys who are willing to share their knowledge and experience to the public for free. The least you can do is ask the questions. If trade lounge has just one other person, I would be happy if that one person was someone I could exchange ideas with and by doing so better myself. In that way, this site is more about show and tell.
8. The general public will not be allowed in the trade lounge. The trade lounge members are not allowed in the student lounge. The students will be able to view but not post in the general room. All questions for the trade are to be confined to the trade lounge or they would be redirected to the trade lounge. Anyone in the trade lounge can make a reply to the general room once they keep in mind that we are promoting natural stone as a serviceable product.
9. We are craftsmen and women, not politicians. So leave the politics out.
MIA, Marble Cleaning Net, NTC, sfa and ISI are all welcome here as long as they respect this forum. There is a room where all may place their ads and do their promotions for upcoming events, a calendar for trade shows, educational classes, and any other type of trade gathering. For all the salespeople, we even have a place for you. You can enter your product up for reviews and the good folks will grade your products. I must warn you. If your product is inferior, the whole world will know, quickly. No news travels faster than bad news. For all the homeowners, contractors, and designers we even have a place for you. The general room is where you can ask as many questions as you want. You may not get the answer you are looking for but you will get the right answer. If there is any way that we can make your visit more pleasurable, please let us know. | | Consumer Help Discuss, this is what crystallizer does to stone at Consumer & Non-registered Lounge forum; some yahoo has been "taking care" of this clients floor for about 6 years. im not sure how many times ... |

| Re: this is what crystallizer does to stone. I love this type of jobs.
This is and easy fix if you are up for it.
a ground in place, epoxy float followed by a polishing would do wonders for this floor.
This is not going to be a cheap job, but it is one that can be fix.

| Re: this is what crystallizer does to stone Are they scratches in the floor that can be seen around the light from the flash ( or scratches in your lens)?

| Re: this is what crystallizer does to stone scratches are the least of their worries, the floor is blistering and chunks are coming out. and the scratches were left from the steel wool these A-holes use to apply the crystallizer. and an epoxy float refers to floating a layer of epoxy on the floor after youve ground to 400 grit to fill the voids and pits and whatnot. after it dries you use 400 grit again with an electroplated pad or you can go back down to a lower grit to removed the epoxy and bring it flush with the floor. then you finish your steps and polish, leaving a factory like finish, only better. |

| Re: this is what crystallizer does to stone I bet they got a great deal on having their floor "restored" in the past. I hope they are willing to spend the $$ to have it fixed for real this time. Let us know how it goes.

| Re: this is what crystallizer does to stone Here's something to look into. Breccias are moisture sensitive. Did you take a moisture reading of the installation? I've seen this type of deterioration on this type of stone that has not been crystallized. Generally it happens to the vain areas and the grainier areas of the stone...pitting and spalling which is evident from your photo's. A few questions to consider...How old is the installation ? Was a moisture barrier used ? Was this stone used in a shower ? Reason...Assuming shower floor was not crystallized...do you see any pitting or spalling? This may not be just a crystallization issue, it may also be a moisture issue as well, and be an on going situation.
If it is determined that moisture is a part the equation here you should consider treating the stone with a densifier/consolidation treatment to stabilize these areas before patching. Do this after the 220 grit pass, and do the whole floor. This is a management technique that I have used to reduce the rate of this type of deterioration. |

| Re: this is what crystallizer does to stone the floor is 6 years old and there are other tell tale signs of crystallization other than the spalling. a moisture barrier was used. the only place this stone was installed is the main floor. the bathrooms and other areas have different stone. the spalling is worse in the kitchen, where i was told they had someone come in to service more often than the rest of the floor. the floor is all orange peeled, there are swirls from the steel wool, and etch marks from the crystallizer being sprayed. |
