Tropical Brown - Does it have direction?

We are considering Tropical Brown granite. I have read both opinions about whether Tropical Brown has direction. From the experts point of view what is the correct answer?

Also would like to know if Tropical Brown typically comes resined as I want to avoid the issue of too many pits.

Thanks,

J Thomas

Re: Tropical Brown - Does it have direction?

tropic browns generally will not have any direction. on some rare occasions you will see a bit of something that most likely only a trained eye would see. as far as the pitting goes tropic brown is very dence and pitting issues are extremely rare. a good stone choice from the regards of maintenance. good luck

Re: Tropical Brown - Does it have direction?

Tropic brown does have a grain direction but as Dave said it is very difficult to see. I would not worry about staining on this stone. Resin or not seal it and just test it every couple of months with the water drop test. If you use a good sealer on it you should be protected for many years between sealer applications.

Re: Tropical Brown - Does it have direction?

Dave and Topshop,
Thank you for the information on Tropical Brown. By the way Topshop, I took the opportunity to look at your photos and you do beautiful work. I admire skilled craftmanship and hope that I can find someone to fabricate our counters who has close to the quality of work you demonstrate.

Our space is small and dark and I'm hoping Tropical Brown won't be too dark because we want a full height backsplash. Another we are looking at is Bianco Romano but I've read that good slabs are hard to find today - at least the white variety that doesn't have too creamy a background.

Thanks again for taking the time to give information.

Re: Tropical Brown - Does it have direction?

I am a big fan of the Bianco. I just love the way a stone like that has variation in grain structure and color. If you see some bianco you like get a deposit on it right away. It changes widely from lot to lot and you want to be sure you are getting the slabs you see. If you go that way be sure to stay on top of your sealer.

Thanks for the compliments.

Re: Tropical Brown - Does it have direction?

I just installed a job in TB it does have a direction but it is not very noticable. It is a good solid stone.
Good Luck with your project.
