Training from Joe Huligar

I just wanted to share with everybody the training I was able to receive today from Joe Huligar. I had the privelage to learn and practice one on one with Joe today and it was a very exciting experience. He showed me numerous techniques which included top polishing, honing, chip repair and scratch removal on many different variety of stones. He took me step by step through each one of these techniques and made me understand what I was doing. It was very helpful that he was explaineing why i was doing a certain thing, rather than just telling you to do it. He made me understand the chemistry behind the stones and what causes the problems that we encounter out in the field. It was truley an amazing experience to be able to learn and absorb Joe's knowledge of the stone industry. If anyone has the oppurtunity to attend his class, I highly suggest it and I know that you will leave there at a higher level and your confidence will be soaring. Joe, thank you very much!

Mr. Huligar's class is on my "next step" agenda on learning stone restoration. Saving up the dinero for the next seminar.

Anthony- From what I've learned just reading posts and some vids from Huligar, the class is a must for a newbie like me. I still have a lotta practicing to do.
Anguilla... hmm... might be a little distracting. I guess I should have specified continental U. S. lol

Re: Training from Joe Huligar

Here is the deal, topshop lets us use is shop one weekend per month. But when ever we set a date no one signs up. so we no longer have set dates, but like the class itself we mold our dates around the students. If 3 are more people can agree on the forum of a date, topshop and i would make it happen. the next possible date for a class is August 17-18-19 if anyone would like for this class to take place, simply make mention in this post.
We are also thinking of having a hands on floor class. we will show you all steps; from working with lippage, de-lipping, honing, and polishing.

Jo, Are you offering the class for the same price that you had for the July class? If so I'm ready to do the August date. I checked flights for Bradley- good to go.

Re: Training from Joe Huligar

Anyone who goes to one of these classes leaves them better educated in the art of repair and restoration of stone. Plus, they just LOVE where they go to lunch.

Re: Training from Joe Huligar

If the class runs it will most likely be 18th and 19th - I suggest coming in on the afternoon or evening 17th because we will be starting early on the 18th and finishing late on the 19th - so plan your flights accordingly. We will not schedule the class for sure unless people sign up for it so use the link that Jo has set-up. Like Jo said every time we schedule a class with time for people to schedule properly nobody signs up. We only seem to be able to run last minute classes. I don't get it.

The airport and hotel info is all on the last class' notification. The airport - hotel - class are not in walking distance so either plan on taxi or renting a car. I recommend renting a car - not many taxi's in CT.

By the way - anyone coming to the class better start working out their arms now or suffer through the pain at the class. It is all about having the strength to control the machine. You will polish your asses off and I don't want to hear any whining.

Scott - I haven't seen our little honey Gergana since the last class. I hope she still works there. She's not much to look at but what a great attitude and there are plenty of others to look at anyway. I look foreward to another class.
