| | | | Notices | Hi Unregistered,
I am Josveek Huligar of Huligar Stone Restoration. It is my hope that a few good craftsmen and craftswomen will call this sanctuary a home.
I will try to make this place as appealing to you as possible.
We do have a few ground rules (without rules there can only be chaos).
1. Respect yourself and your trade.2.No trade bashing. But, by all means, please debate. It is through the debates that we get to the truth.
3. In your signature, you may not link to any other site. If you supplied your link in your profile, you may put that link under your avatar
4. Do not insult the guests.
5. Your participation is necessary in all polls. This is the only way we can get real feedback.6.You can post pictures of your work. Please, the only work we really care about is the work you do to stone, not on it (nothing inappropriate).
7. You will also be required to be active in this forum. I intend to rid the NSRA Trade area of the hacks and stone-voyeurs by mandating anyone who wants access to the trade lounge to register with their location and trade. If for any reason a person does not participate for duration of 60 days they will be banned from the lounge "No Beer for you". We have guys who are willing to share their knowledge and experience to the public for free. The least you can do is ask the questions. If trade lounge has just one other person, I would be happy if that one person was someone I could exchange ideas with and by doing so better myself. In that way, this site is more about show and tell.
8. The general public will not be allowed in the trade lounge. The trade lounge members are not allowed in the student lounge. The students will be able to view but not post in the general room. All questions for the trade are to be confined to the trade lounge or they would be redirected to the trade lounge. Anyone in the trade lounge can make a reply to the general room once they keep in mind that we are promoting natural stone as a serviceable product.
9. We are craftsmen and women, not politicians. So leave the politics out.
MIA, Marble Cleaning Net, NTC, sfa and ISI are all welcome here as long as they respect this forum. There is a room where all may place their ads and do their promotions for upcoming events, a calendar for trade shows, educational classes, and any other type of trade gathering. For all the salespeople, we even have a place for you. You can enter your product up for reviews and the good folks will grade your products. I must warn you. If your product is inferior, the whole world will know, quickly. No news travels faster than bad news. For all the homeowners, contractors, and designers we even have a place for you. The general room is where you can ask as many questions as you want. You may not get the answer you are looking for but you will get the right answer. If there is any way that we can make your visit more pleasurable, please let us know. | | Consumer Help Discuss, Minor scratches on marble table at Consumer & Non-registered Lounge forum; I just went to a customers house and they spilled some gorilla glue on this marble table. | Minor scratches on marble table I just went to a customers house and they spilled some gorilla glue on this marble table. They removed the glue with some thinner and a razor blade. The area is about 6"x 3" and it appears that the glue is gone but there are a few light scratches and a little dullness. You cant really see the damaged area in this picture but i wanted you guys to see the stone. I was wondering if i can get away with using the white pad with 5X on the area? Im saving up for a fancy camera like you Joe! |

| Re: Minor scratches on marble table Hey Anthony,
looked @ picture. An acidic powder would work and remove the light dullness and possible scratching pretty easily.
I'm not a big fan of the 5X though...
All powders have two parts. A mechanical (grind) part and a chemical (polish) part.
5X uses a tin oxide as a mechanical part and a potassium oxalate as a chemical part.
The tin oxide is a flake product which cuts on two sides. And, because it is a flake it does not remove damage as well as others. It disolves quickly too. It also fuses together and creates an abrasive crystal which may then "scratch" the surface you are trying to polish.
You know what I'm talking about, you see the chunky crystals.
5X is an old technology which is a derivative of old/unused 5X brick.
The potasium oxalate is a hot polishing powder. This hot powder is used to off-set the lack of abrasiveness the tin oxide provides. So, with the hotter powder you have more of a chance to "burn" your marble surface or...at the very least, the spatter marks will sit on the polished surface and leave "burn marks.
It is an old school product which is too inconsistant and requires too much care to get it to work properly. Many people who choose 5X find themselves sifting the 5X powder just to get the "rock" crystals out.
Way too much work and concern when there are other powders which are easier and more effective to use. Especially on darker marbles.
My suggestion,
Find yourself another powder.
I suggest Diamond Renew Polishing Powder.
This powder uses an extremely fine synthetic diamond abrasive as the mechanical (grind) part. This synthetic abrasive has no less than eight edges for better "grind" action and in the process it will wear down slowly and into a very fine grit. This allows it to be worked from an aggresive size to a finer size removing most scratches, consistantly and gradually, until they are all g-o-n-e!!!
The polishing part is a magnesium flourosilicate (acid) which works with the calcium carbonite (marble) and leaves the surface crystals highly reflective.
Best of luck. Any replys can be made public. If you want to know where to get this powder IM me and I'll get you the number...this is not an advertising thread.
Thanks for reading,

| Re: Minor scratches on marble table pimp, you have not post for some time, you lost your avatar, next you would have lost the rights to post in the trade area.
Back to your little ad, we have are should have that Diamond Renew Polishing Powder over in the NSRA store. But to say that it will work better than the 5x on this job, and that 5x is old school is fighting words. you your self have a 5x knock off that i know you sell a ton of. in this case, and knowing Anthony, 5x will work best for him with little to know work. No need for pm, but we should take this to the trades area of the site.
