I have some nice stone and would like to make stone trivits,,I am wondering what I can put on the top of the stone to withstand heat.I would appreciate any help.

I don't understand. The stone will take the heat as long as the stone is evenly heated. Stone breaks if it is heated unevenly. There is nothing you can put on the stone to make it take heat.

you can place felt on the bottom of the stone if you do not want the stone to scratch the rest of the counter or melt the man-made stuff if you have it. The stone will stand up to heat from your pots and pans on its own.

we make trivets and lazy susans as options when we fab counter tops, they are designed to be used as is, nothing else necessary. the only reason why we dont use the stone as cutting boards is because it will dull the knifes. if its granite or similar, it will take the abuse with little to no wear.
