How to make granite slab shower wall more waterproof?

Hello all,

I'm new here, but glad to have found somewhere useful to ask my questions. Any help appreciated.

I've had a granite slab shower installed. Looks good, but haven't used it yet. (It's been months since it was installed, but it hasn't been used as yet). Fabricator/installer said the granite had been sealed at the shop, but was vague about what was used, and I note that drops of water quickly absorb and darken the granite, so I want to have a better sealer that will stop that color change when part of it gets wet. (Doesn't seem unreasonable to me).

So far, from my internet searches, I've found a product by Tenax - either Hydrex or Protex - can't determine what the difference is between them.

Also, there's a product by Bellinzoni - superseal, or superseal CE.

Finally, I've found info' on Zetaseal from Regent stone products.

Question is - which sealer will do the best job? I don't want ruin my granite by putting on the wrong product. I prefer something that lasts a while too, if possible.

In case you wonder, the granite is a salmon color, with lots of gray to white veins in it. It's also on the vanity top.

I guess if I had to put on a product that would give a wet look, that might be O.K. as long as the color enhancement stayed consistent. I don't want darker color patches here and there where the product isn't wearing off. Talking of darkening of color with some products, is there a limit to how dark it makes the stone, or does it get darker and darker with every application?

Hi,

For the moment, I'm drawing a blank on the name. However, the matching tile that was used for the base of the shower was called "Lady Dream" if that helps.

Hi,

When I went into my photo index to find a photo of the shower, lo and behold, I'd named the granite. It's called 'Amber Fantasy'. Does this help, or do you still need a photo?

see www.exoticgranite.com

This is where the granite came from, and they have a small pic of 'Amber Fantasy' on their site. If it isn't clear enough, I can still post a pic - may take me a while though, never having done it before.

From the list that you have provided, I would go with the Tenax hydrex.
I known someone that tell you the different between the Hydrex and the Protex and may even tell you how to use them correctly.
