grinding pads

I have a Clarke floor machine and use Alpha pads for polishing and lippage removal. I've worked on a few limestone tile jobs with 1/16 strong lippage. It took me 3.5-4 hours to remove the lippage. Seems to long for 200 square feet. The Alpha pads to a great job polishing but I want something faster for grinding. I've heard about the Rosex pads. What can you tell me about them? Anybody work with these pads? Good or bad experiences? Any information appreciated. Thanks. JMP

Re: grinding pads

Are these the pads you are looking at for lippage removal?

If so do not waste your time.
resin pads will take for ever to remove lippage. Let me help you out, look for a metal bond pad if you want to speed up your time, save the pads life, and get a good running start on your polishing.

I for one use the soft cuts,

Big E sells a lot of his Turbocat to the guys on the forum, everyone that has use them had good things to say about them.

Re: grinding pads

I cut 2500 sq. ft. of lippage prone medium density limestone with a mono machine 1.5 horse, 6 prong stiff plate at about 150lb.s total with 50 grit turbo cats in a day with no sweat at all. A plantetary machine will do better. One thing is for sure with limestone, nickel electroplated pads will work best for cleaning up the scratches from the turbo cats - there's where you will need to spend some time.
Huligar - Could you please elaborate on these "soft cuts" I see, I personally do not like the scratch pattern that the turbocats leave - will these cut as well and leave a "softer" scratch?

Re: grinding pads

I would also like to clarify, it took the better part of 4 days to complete that floor. It was only the first flattening that I was speaking of with the turbocats.
