I have granite countertops and last night I burnt a pot. The metal of the pot was burning and my reaction was to take it off the burner and put it on the granite. Therefore, metal burnt the countertop. Pictures attached.
Let me tell you what happen. She melts the pot and as she is trying not to get burn the melted metal drops on the countertop. What do you all think took place and what should be done to repair it.
Probably so, Jo. But where's the metal. Is this what was left when she cleaned up? If so, it is probably in the stone, right? Probably deeper than grinding it out would resolve, right?

Do not say that she is now on the board; she is also beating her self up over it. I am going to take a look at it next week. I hope the heat did not do anything to the minerals of the stone. I am hoping that Mike has something to say on this topic.
since granite is cooled down lava i dont think melting metal will damage the stone to where it couldnt be repaired. I wonder if you could poultice some of the minerals frome the metal out of the stone and use a cleaner of some sort(stripper or somthing). i have never done this so this is just what i think.
