The rod is rusting in the stone - expanding and causing the crack to open and will continue to break it open. Just one more reason to use the fiberglass rods.
I think that stone is Kashmere Gold - to fix it right I would replace the front of the sink cutout with another piece but to find a piece the same color might be difficult and getting the prifile to match would take some skill for sure. To re-cut and put in a farm sink is an option too but that would require the removal of the whole top as farm sinks are set under the stone and inside of the cabinet frame. That would also only work if the cabinet is the right size for a farm sink.
Either way not an easy FIX, but cosmetic can be done if you have the right restoration guy do it. |
