Attaching granite side splashes to vanity top

Hello Group, I'm full of questions today. I bought a black granite vanity top w/ the back and side splash pieces. I know I can float the back splash. as the vanity is freestanding I was wondering how to attach the two side plash pieces? My plan was to roughen the joint area with course emery cloth and then bond the pieces with Devcon black epoxy. Any pros or cons using this method. Because of the weight do I need to dowel for enhanced support? Any help would be greatly beneficial. Thanks in advance Marty

Re: Attaching granite side splashes to vanity top

You usually only use side splashes against a wall. A good penetrating stone epoxy will hold if the area is roughed up with a 50 grit diamond pad. I am not sure about the devcon stuff. To be safe I would only use what is recommended for stone. Some chemicals may discolor some stones.
