I am Josveek Huligar of Huligar Stone Restoration. It is my hope that a few good craftsmen and craftswomen will call this sanctuary a home.
I will try to make this place as appealing to you as possible.
We do have a few ground rules (without rules there can only be chaos).
1. Respect yourself and your trade.2.No trade bashing. But, by all means, please debate. It is through the debates that we get to the truth.
3. In your signature, you may not link to any other site. If you supplied your link in your profile, you may put that link under your avatar
4. Do not insult the guests.
5. Your participation is necessary in all polls. This is the only way we can get real feedback.6.You can post pictures of your work. Please, the only work we really care about is the work you do to stone, not on it (nothing inappropriate).
7. You will also be required to be active in this forum. I intend to rid the NSRA Trade area of the hacks and stone-voyeurs by mandating anyone who wants access to the trade lounge to register with their location and trade. If for any reason a person does not participate for duration of 60 days they will be banned from the lounge "No Beer for you". We have guys who are willing to share their knowledge and experience to the public for free. The least you can do is ask the questions. If trade lounge has just one other person, I would be happy if that one person was someone I could exchange ideas with and by doing so better myself. In that way, this site is more about show and tell.
8. The general public will not be allowed in the trade lounge. The trade lounge members are not allowed in the student lounge. The students will be able to view but not post in the general room. All questions for the trade are to be confined to the trade lounge or they would be redirected to the trade lounge. Anyone in the trade lounge can make a reply to the general room once they keep in mind that we are promoting natural stone as a serviceable product.
9. We are craftsmen and women, not politicians. So leave the politics out.
MIA, Marble Cleaning Net, NTC, sfa and ISI are all welcome here as long as they respect this forum. There is a room where all may place their ads and do their promotions for upcoming events, a calendar for trade shows, educational classes, and any other type of trade gathering. For all the salespeople, we even have a place for you. You can enter your product up for reviews and the good folks will grade your products. I must warn you. If your product is inferior, the whole world will know, quickly. No news travels faster than bad news. For all the homeowners, contractors, and designers we even have a place for you. The general room is where you can ask as many questions as you want. You may not get the answer you are looking for but you will get the right answer. If there is any way that we can make your visit more pleasurable, please let us know. | | Articles Discuss, Natural Granite Disclaimer at Consumer & Non-registered Lounge forum; Granite is a coarse, crystalline rock composed primarily of quartz and feldspar. | | <!-- google_ad_section_start -->Natural Granite Disclaimer<!-- google_ad_section_end --> Granite is a coarse, crystalline rock composed primarily of quartz and feldspar. It forms from slowly cooling magma that is subjected to extreme pressures deep beneath the earth's surface. Because it is a natural material it is subject to variation in mineral composition affecting color, flecks, and other aspects of appearance. No two granite/marble pieces are alike - making each natural granite vanity top a beautiful, one of a kind masterpiece. Handle with Care: A granite top is heavier than that of a cultured marble vanity top. Please address safety and handling issues for lifting. Also notable is the size and the composition of the quartz deposits within each top. The smaller the quartz count, the more dense the material and therefore the stronger the product is. All granite is fragile; however, Blue Butterfly has a naturally higher quartz count making it a more fragile product than other granites. Special care must be taken in handling all granite tops. Always use two people when handling stone vanity tops. Cleaning: - Clean stone surfaces with a few drops of non-acidic soap scum remover, or a mild liquid dishwashing detergent.
- Frequent use of soap scum remover may dull the surface.
- Thoroughly rinse and dry the surface after washing
- Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks.
- Blot up spills immediately
- Do not use products that contain lemon, vinegar or other acid content. These may etch the surface
- Do not use abrasive cleaner such as dry cleaners or soft cleansers.
- Do not use cleaners that contain acids such as bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners, or tile cleaners.
- Do not mix bleach and ammonia, this combination creates a toxic and lethal gas.
Spills and Stains: Blot the spill with a paper towel immediately. Don't wipe the area. Flush the area with plain water and mild soap and rinse several times. Dry the area thoroughly with a soft cloth. Repeat as necessary. Note: Protected stones will clean easily and you may want to just try warm water at first to give you the results you need: towel dry to remove streaks. We recommend to re-seal your product thirty to sixty days after installing it with an Stone Care Inter granite sealer. With this care guide is a care procedures that explains in detail the sealer process. Pour the sealer on the granite countertop and allow the sealer to absorb into the granite and then wipe off. Products not to use and why not to use them: *Stone is a chemical in a solid form. When an improper chemical is used, it reacts.* | pH Scale | | 1------------------------------------- | 7---------------------------- | 14 | | Acid | Neutral | Alkali | Products pH is a unit of measure to determine the alkalinity and acidity of a solution *There are some companies that claim their products are pH neutral however, the company will add a buffer which will say the product is a 7 but in fact has the effect of a 13 Acids- chemicals that will burn and dull the stone. - Drano
- Lime Away- as an example, this will eat marble and take the shine away immediately
- Calcium, Lime, Rust Remover (CLR)
- Kaboom & Zap- this will also eat marble and take the shine away immediately
- Vinegar
- Fruit Juices
- Alcoholic beverages
- Most household cleaning products
Alkalis DO NOT USE Windex. Windex- attacks color minerals of the stone. Black for example will turn grey over time. If anyone ever says they have been using windex for years and nothing has happened, have them compare it to a fresh piece of marble and they will be able to notice the difference immediately. 409, Fantastic, Kaboom & Zap, Strippers, Degreasers, Ammonia, most household cleaning products. Soap & Water - soap leaves a film and water leaves mineral deposits both of which cause dulling. Murphy's Oil Soap & Pine Sol - these two products can stain the stone and darken the color of the stone over time. They will also create a very slippery surface and can leave a filmy haze on the stone. Bleach & Water Bleach will bleach the stone which can never be corrected. Check all products for bleach content. With proper care your natural stone will retain it's beauty!
