Polishing concrete countertops

Used Pads from Granite City called Dia Plus 50, 100, 400 wet and then the dry pads Maurizio sells 800, 1500, 3000 dry. Finished it off with a white Alpha felt pad. Yes, I skipped the 200's. I have noticed that everyone sells the same manufacturer of dry pads.

I tested the dry pads for concrete in the video from Granite City this past weekend. The 50's are hard core and leaves very aggressive scratches. It takes twice as long as it should removing them with the 100's. Even then you have to go back and hit some of the areas again.

Old = Standard dry pads everyone carries.
New = Pads in video.

I ran (some of you will say it is to high a speed but the same happened at 600 rpm) the 50's, 100, 200 at 800 RPM. 50's - The old pads showed some sheen although very dull and slightly white (to be expected) and the new torn the daylights out of the concrete VERY distinct scratch marks and the concrete was white. 100's - Old pads quickly removed 50 scratches. New pads took a long time to remove 50 scratches and when done was equal in looks to the 50's of the old pads. 200's pretty much the same results just removed scratches from previous grits.

Then I ran the 400's at 1200 RPM. The old pads started to pop the concrete. The new pads looked like the 200 grit of the old pad.

800 and 1500 grits at 1600 RPM. The old pads at 800 grit were looking awesome. To my surprise the new pads had almost, very close but not quite the same shine as the old. The results of the 1500 of each pad were the same.

2200 RPM I ran the 3000's and the new pad was a slight touch better in clarity. Not much. You had to really look to see a difference.

Sorry, no gloss meter.

I will run some other tests at different RPM combinations including one with the same RPM all the way through.

Any ideas or suggestions let me know.
