I am Josveek Huligar of Huligar Stone Restoration. It is my hope that a few good craftsmen and craftswomen will call this sanctuary a home.
I will try to make this place as appealing to you as possible.
We do have a few ground rules (without rules there can only be chaos).
1. Respect yourself and your trade.2.No trade bashing. But, by all means, please debate. It is through the debates that we get to the truth.
3. In your signature, you may not link to any other site. If you supplied your link in your profile, you may put that link under your avatar
4. Do not insult the guests.
5. Your participation is necessary in all polls. This is the only way we can get real feedback.6.You can post pictures of your work. Please, the only work we really care about is the work you do to stone, not on it (nothing inappropriate).
7. You will also be required to be active in this forum. I intend to rid the NSRA Trade area of the hacks and stone-voyeurs by mandating anyone who wants access to the trade lounge to register with their location and trade. If for any reason a person does not participate for duration of 60 days they will be banned from the lounge "No Beer for you". We have guys who are willing to share their knowledge and experience to the public for free. The least you can do is ask the questions. If trade lounge has just one other person, I would be happy if that one person was someone I could exchange ideas with and by doing so better myself. In that way, this site is more about show and tell.
8. The general public will not be allowed in the trade lounge. The trade lounge members are not allowed in the student lounge. The students will be able to view but not post in the general room. All questions for the trade are to be confined to the trade lounge or they would be redirected to the trade lounge. Anyone in the trade lounge can make a reply to the general room once they keep in mind that we are promoting natural stone as a serviceable product.
9. We are craftsmen and women, not politicians. So leave the politics out.
MIA, Marble Cleaning Net, NTC, sfa and ISI are all welcome here as long as they respect this forum. There is a room where all may place their ads and do their promotions for upcoming events, a calendar for trade shows, educational classes, and any other type of trade gathering. For all the salespeople, we even have a place for you. You can enter your product up for reviews and the good folks will grade your products. I must warn you. If your product is inferior, the whole world will know, quickly. No news travels faster than bad news. For all the homeowners, contractors, and designers we even have a place for you. The general room is where you can ask as many questions as you want. You may not get the answer you are looking for but you will get the right answer. If there is any way that we can make your visit more pleasurable, please let us know. | | Articles Discuss, Color and veining of natural stone at Consumer & Non-registered Lounge forum; Veining

These stones contain natural veining and color that enhances their uniqueness and attraction. In geological terms, veins are the finite volumes within stones, having distinct shapes and filled with crystals of minerals which were precipitated from fluids. Due to hydrothermal circulation, fluids carrying mineral constituents form veins into a stone mass. Two types of mechanism- open-space filling and crack seal growth causes veins to be formed in stones and they are the result of growth of crystals on the walls of planar fractures in stones. Veining in stones varies from soft to hard and soft veins are more susceptible to damage. Wet and damp areas are not suitable for stones that have softer veining as the minerals in them might slowly disintegrate and streaks and color variations occur. Some marbles Crème Marfils, Perlino Rosata, Breccias have this kind of problem. Hence, it is important to select the right stone for the right place according to the quality of veining. Color The beauty of natural stones lies in their distinctive nature. No two stones are the ever same as each piece of stone has its own natural characteristics such as color, veining and markings, as well as hardness and porosity. The opulent, intensity and array and combination of different colors greatly enhance their visual appeal, although some shades have greater color variation than others. Stones contain different minerals like dolomite, calcium, quartz; feldspars etc. and these colorless minerals when combined during several stages of stone formation create this kaleidoscope of color of stones. Any kind of light, especially sunlight can really reflect the true color of a particular stone and some stones have distinct respond when exposed to different shades of light. When wet, the colors are brought to life. Modac, especially, looks wonderful in the cool English light of winter when soft landscaping is fading into its autumnal and wintry state. It is a shade to choose if you want to bring a warm Mediterranean appearance to your garden As stones contain lots of minerals, the color of a stone might change or fade due to natural weathering and use of harmful chemicals. I) Natural Cause: Nothing is eternal, more so for natural stones. The natural weathering process and the ultraviolet rays from the sun and improper care of your stone may cause the color of stones to fade slowly. Limestone and black marbles are examples. ii) Chemical Cleaning: some manufactures use acid in there cleaners. But some stones are very sensitive to acids and alkaline cleaning solutions and excessive use of them cause fading effect on stones. So you must be careful not to use too much of acidic or alkaline solutions on natural stones. iii) Sometimes, the optical qualities of natural stones can be changed by etching their exposed mineral surfaces.
