Talking Marble Stains / Spots : is it savable?

Truth is... I don't care if it turns out to be a 'perfect' marble tabletop that looks like it came off a showroom floor. I just saw this once beautiful 60" round marble tabletop headed to the dump and I couldn't stand the thought of it!
If I can just make it look decent I'll be perfectly happy.
I like the challenge and the satisfaction of saving stuff like this and especially doing it for little or no cost with just some elbow grease and determination.
And for the record... I'm a she! ;-)
