Verde Green (same word in two languages) or Verdi Alpi is not marble it is a serpentine. it is more resistant to etching than marble, but it will still etch with some liquids. when polished, this serpentine does not need to be sealed, it wont absorb anything. i am pretty sure they sealed it, improperly at that, and it is the sealer residue that is etching, not the stone.
