Yes, that is an ugly seam and Jo is right it can be fixed.
From what I can see the epoxy (at least it better be epoxy and not caulk) the installers put the seam together with will not darken. They are just blowing smoke up your butt to save themselves work.
The class Jo is talking about is over an hour away in Manchester at my shop. It is up to Jo if he wants to drag the class down to you or not.
